You might have heard that Norwegians get out and enjoys the sun the minute it appears. Early April when the snow is still on the ground and the sun comes out between the clouds, we get our scarfs and our hot coffee and we sit outside. Hopefully we avoid the wind with a wall or something and we enjoy the little sun-time we have.
Well, the summer isn’t much different. This year we had a great April (at least where I live) and a crappy may (with the exceptions of a few days, and 17th of may). And now, that June is here is has started of great and all I’m thinking is “I have to tan right now, cause july. Might be crappy!”.
I’m sorry, I can’t help it. I have to take every minute I have off from work when it’s sunny to tan, drink cold beverages and eat ice cream. Cause really you can not depend on the weather. You know what the first thought was when June started of as sunny, was? “Oh damn, is July going to be rainy now? What about my wedding?!”. So that’s how it goes, I sit outside eating my breakfast, lunch, coffee, dinner and only go in when the sun is down and the mosquitos are out and worry about what day of the summer is going to be crappy and rainy because I can enjoy this day today.
And just for last, a happy, ice-eating picture of me and my husband-to-be!

That’s exactly how I feel. I’m in Norway (about 40 min from Oslo) for the summer and this past week has been awesome! I spend every minute I can outdoors because who knows what tomorrow will bring! (Please no more rain, wind, and cold! eek) I’m getting married June 18th and I’m PRAYING for another weekend like the last few days have been!
Enjoy!
I will hope and pray for sunny weather on your wedding day! And I’m glad I’m not the only one obsessing over the sun ^^
Thanks, Karin! Hoping for great weather for your wedding as well! Got a lot of sun today! Had fun at the local tivoli and now sick from the all the spinny rides.

Hej!
I’m Bea, from Italy, and it’s raining today
I was at the seaside with some friends two days ago… it was very hot, like 35° C, but suddendly it started raining and we had to run off and catch the first crowded bus!
Anyway, I’ve seen your videos many times and I sometimes read you blog, because I love Scandinavia, in particular Norway and Sweden. I also love your weather because I can’t stand it when temperatures raise to 38°C-40° C… yeah, it can be very very hot in Italy, when it’s summer!
Yesterday I saw a video of yours, its name was “My Love” and it was soooo funny and cute!
Are you seriously going to get married?
I’ve just read you post ( I didn’t read it all before) and the comments below, and you’re actually going to get married!
CONGRATULATIONS!

I wanted to share a new orchestral theme I wrote which is a tribute to Norway and my own heritage (my Bestemor and mom). I hope that you like it– not perfect yet as it is not done in studio as most of my tunes are…..
I was hoping that you could share with other Norwegians who may like it.
Thanks,
Kristi
Thank you for sharing! It’s so nice people contributing and caring about this!<3
I think it’s pity that America hasn’t fully reacted to the massacre in Norway. The band Somehow has written a song and made a video dedicated to those who died in the massacre in Norway. Follow the link below for video. All love to Norway!
Thank you for posting this, it’s is a very nice song!
Hey, Karin. Just found out your blog. I’d like to thank you personally for writing about culture of your country. Can you post more on people relations? From what I understand (my roommate in university has a cousin, who’s married to a Norwegian) man and women are completely equal. Can you explain what does that mean? I wish to move to Norway, once I’ll gain some work experience as a programmer and learn Norwegian.
Speaking of which, what was the highest temperature you remember during summer? In Poland, we once had snow during May (actually twice, but I remember just this one time, the other was in 1989).
Tell me, do people from abroad also think that in Norway you have polar bears? I can’t understand why, but some people who come to PL think we have polar bears…
Anyway, congratulations on your soon-to-be-started marriage!
